Overview

The QuickBilling MCP server is a hosted remote server that connects an MCP client to your workspace. You add one URL, sign in with your QuickBilling account, and the assistant uses 129 tools to read and change your invoices, estimates, customers, expenses, income, projects and reports.

Things you can ask

Describe the job the way you would to a colleague. The assistant picks the right tools and runs them as you.

  • “Create an invoice for Bluebird Café for 3 hours of design at $120/hour and send it.”

    The assistant finds or adds the customer, builds the invoice with that line item and sends it to the customer by email.

  • “Which invoices are overdue?”

    It lists the invoices past their due date with the customer and the amount, so you know whom to chase.

  • “Log this receipt as a Software expense.”

    It creates the expense in the Software category and can attach the receipt to it.

  • “Show me profit and loss for this quarter.”

    It pulls the report from your workspace and summarises it in the chat.

Connect it in three steps

Nothing to install and no API key to copy. Your client signs you in with your QuickBilling account.

  1. Add QuickBilling as a remote MCP server in an MCP client that supports remote servers, using the URL https://mcp.quickbilling.io/mcp.

  2. Sign in with your QuickBilling account when your client asks you to authorise the connection (OAuth).

  3. Ask your first question, for example “List my QuickBilling workspaces” or “Which invoices are overdue?”.

claude_desktop_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "quickbilling": {
      "url": "https://mcp.quickbilling.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

The config above suits clients that read a JSON file, such as Cursor. In Claude Desktop, add the same URL as a custom connector. Menu names differ by client.

What it looks like

A short exchange written out as plain text. Names and amounts are fictional.

ExampleExample conversation in an MCP client.
  1. You

    Create an invoice for Bluebird Café for 3 hours of design at $120/hour and send it.

  2. Assistant

    Done. I created the invoice with one line item, 3 hours of design at $120.00, total $360.00, and sent it to Bluebird Café by email.

  3. You

    Which invoices are overdue?

  4. Assistant

    Two invoices are past their due date: NW-1038 for Marlowe Architects ($1,200.00, 9 days late) and NW-1041 for Harbor Dental ($480.00, 3 days late).

What the assistant can reach

129 tools in seven groups. Each one is a real, authenticated call with the permissions of your account.

Invoices and estimates
List, create, save, send, share links, PDF preview, status and recurring rules.
Customers
List, search, view, create, update and delete customers, and pull a customer statement.
Billing profiles and items
Sender profiles and a library of reusable line items.
Templates
Invoice templates and presets.
Expenses
Create and edit expenses with receipts, categories, vendors, tags, budgets and recurring rules.
Income and projects
Income entries, projects and milestones.
Reports and workspaces
Dashboard stats, profit and loss, cash flow, and listing or switching between your workspaces.

It runs as you

Every call uses your account's permissions, including changing and deleting records, so check what the assistant proposes before you confirm. Remove the connection in your MCP client to stop access. What an assistant does with the data it receives is governed by its provider's own policy.

How we handle AI assistants

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what people ask before they start. Something missing? Ask us directly.

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call tools in other software. The QuickBilling MCP server exposes your invoices, expenses, customers and reports as such tools.

Which assistants work with it?

Claude Desktop, Cursor and other MCP clients that support remote servers with OAuth sign-in. Nothing is installed on your computer.

Do I need an API key?

No. The MCP server signs you in with your QuickBilling account. API keys are for the REST API and are part of the Unlimited plan.

Can ChatGPT use it?

A QuickBilling app for ChatGPT is coming soon. It has been submitted to OpenAI for review and is not available yet.

Can the assistant change or delete my data?

Yes, within what your account can do, so check what the assistant proposes before you confirm it. Remove the connection in your MCP client to stop access.
